The observed epidemiology of refractive errors seen over a generation, fuelled by environmental changes namely stress and time spent in education, wherein the student population group requires considerable attention.This studies prevalence rates of various refractive errors occurring among college students of North India and to comparatively evaluate with respect to education stream, gender, religion and type of diet, 1200 (400 medical, 400 engineering and 400 arts) students aged 17-22 years from different colleges were interviewed regarding their diet, religion, and education stream, personal and family history of any medical or ocular disease. Visual acuity of all the students was assessed by Snellen and Jaegers charts and refractive errors were measured by cycloplegic refraction. The prevalence rates and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism were calculated. Results were analyzed by chi2 test and P values of less than 0.05 were considered significant. It was found that the prevalence of refractive errors varies with gender and education stream, but not with religion and type of diet. Myopia was most prevalent refractive error in college students, 37.6% students have myopia, 3.58% astigmatism and 0.33 % hyperopia. Also statistically significantly higher prevalence of myopia was found in medical students as compared to other education streams (Myopia was significantly higher in medical (71.25%) as compared to engineering (28.25%)&arts students (13.5%)).No significant difference of myopia prevalence was found with respect to gender, religion or type of diet. Astigmatic prevalence was not significantly different in medical and engineering students but both medical and engineering students have significantly higher astigmatic prevalence as compared to arts students. Astigmatism was also significantly higher in females as compared to males. Highest myopia prevalence in medical students justifies that deteriorating vision is an occupational hazard for medical students.Keywords

Background and purposeTo assess the effect of auditory feedback along with the conventional methods in improving the weight bearing symmetry of lower limbs and spatial temporal gait parameters in stroke patients.
Design
Non- randomized control trial.
Setting
Kasturba Hospital, Manipal and S.D.M. Ayurvedic Hospital, Udyavara, Karnataka.
Subjects
30 stroke patients (15 in experimental group and 15 in control group).
Interventions
Conventional weight bearing exercises was given for control group while the same was supplemented with auditory feedback device called "Ped Alert" for the experimental group. Exercises were given one hour per day, five days a week for two weeks.
Main measures
Weight bearing symmetry, spatial parameters (step and stride lengths), and temporal parameters (single and double limb support time, gait velocity, cadence, asymmetry ratio), of gait and Wisconsin Gait Scale (WGS).
Result
Within group comparison showed significant improvement in weight bearing symmetry, unaffected single limb support duration (SLSD), cadence, asymmetry ratio and WGS for the control group and significant improvement in velocity, cadence, affected step length, unaffected step length, affected stride length, unaffected stride length, WGS and weight bearing symmetry in the experimental group. Between groups comparison showed significant improvement in velocity (p=0.021), unaffected step length (p=0.013), unaffected stride length (p=0.048) and WGS (p=0.026).
Conclusion
Auditory feedback training has an additional role in improving unaffected step and stride lengths and gait velocity. However it may be as effective as conventional treatment in improving other spatial and temporal parameters of gait.

The present study aims to (i) to measure three dimensions of burnout i.e.; emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and lack of personal accomplishment of the elementary school teachers and (ii) to find the differences on three dimensions of burnout between male and female teachers, as well as teachers of urban and rural schools. The hypothesis was that there would be no significant differences on three dimensions of burnout among school teachers on the basis of sex, and location of the schools. The sample of the study consisted of 400 school teachers, out of which 200 were male teachers and 200 were females. The sample was divided into two groups on the basis of location of schools i.e. urban and rural school. They were administered the standardized test of Maslach' Burnout Inventory (M.B.I., 1986) by Maslach, Jackson and Schwab. The results of the study show that there were no sex differences on burnout of the teachers; though the rural male and female teachers differed on burnout. But rural and urban school teachers differed on all dimensions of burnout whether they were males or females or combined group and urban school teachers were more burned out.Keywords

We investigate the complex interaction between direct detection and coherent detection optical-OFDM systems at 10 Gb/s and 4-QAM. We show how fibre dispersion causes different quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) constellation phase rotations as a function of OFDM sideband frequency. We investigated that in case of DDO-OFDM we need to extend constellation amplitude up-to 2m whereas in CDO-OFDM it is limited to 1m. In case of DDO-OFDM double side band is produced which makes lot of bandwidth wastage. We also investigate that Carrier boosting at the receiver enables direct detection optical OFDM (DDO-OFDM) to outperform coherent OOFDM in the nonlinear limit.Keywords

In context of effective resource utilization using spectrum sensing and dynamic spectrum access (DSA), Cognitive Radio (CR) has been proposed as versatile and an emerging technology. In order to understand, how OFDM is consider as suitable candidate for cognitive radio, this paper presents various aspects of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based cognitive radio. As total transmission rate of CR user is maximized in interference constraint scenario, this paper also formulate problem for optimal transmit power control in OFDM based CR under various spectrum sharing approaches such as underlay, overlay and interweave. Apart from existing works in the literature here we presented mathematical formula for power-allocation schemes for interweave as well as joint underlay and overlay approach. MATLAB simulation shows that with optimal power transmission by CR users, capacity can be improved significantly.Keywords

Optical network systems with prolonged reach are required to cater the long distance located optical network units (subscribers). In this work, a DP-128 QAM based system is proposed with Optical Back Propagation (OBP) to cope up with nonlinear impairments in wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) systems. OBP module that consists of optical phase conjugator (OPC), Raman fiber amplifier (RFA) and erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is investigated in pre, post and symmetrical configuration. Ideal OBP conditions are simulated using Dispersion Compensation Fiber (DCF) as a RFA with dual directional pumping. Dual directional pumping shows better result than forward and backward pumping. Results revealed that system can cover 5100 km within acceptable BER (10-3) using symmetrical OBP with RFA dual bi-directional pumping. Proposed symmetrical OBP system provides enhanced performance as compared to other techniques such as single channel digital back propagation (DBP), wideband DBP, pre OBP with forward pumping, pre OBP with backward pumping, pre OBP with dual directional pumping, and post OBP with dual directional pumping.References

In order to optimize power allocation, Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based cognitive radio (CR) network allows flexible spectrum and adaptive capability. Decreased capacity due to subcarrier cancelation and out of band reduction can be compensated while employing multiple inputs and multiple outputs (MIMO) along with OFDM based CR. MIMO allows better beam forming and directivity due to multiple transmit and receive antenna. Here we have implemented water filling mechanism with channel state information (CSI) for optimal power allocation under hybrid spectrum sharing scenario such as overlay, underlay and interweave. Main objective is to maximize overall capacity of cognitive radio network in downlink while considering interference constraint imposed by primary user and maximum transmit power constraint at secondary user. Simulation results demonstrate waterfilling approach for hybrid scenario in MIMO-OFDM based CRN.References

The proliferation of chronic disorders such as COVID-19 has recognized the importance of people all over the world having immediate access to healthcare. The recent pandemic has shown deficiencies in the traditional healthcare infrastructure, namely that hospitals and clinics alone are inadequate for grappling with such a disaster. One of the key technologies that favours new healthcare solutions is smart and interconnected wearables. Thanks to developments in the Internet of Things (IoT), these wearables will now collect data on an unprecedented scale. However, as a result of their extensive use, security in these critical systems has become a major concern. This paper presents an intrusion detection mechanism based on Machine Learning Algorithms for healthcare applications used in home network environments. Experiments are carried out on a home network to detect attacks against a health care application. Experiments using the proposed mechanism based on Machine Learning algorithms to detect attacks against a healthcare application are carried out on a home network, and the results show a good performance of the used algorithms.Keywords

Rapid advancements in micro-computing, mini-hardware manufacturing, and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications have allowed for innovative Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to redefine numerous networking applications. With the emergence of IoT branches such as the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), healthcare and industrial systems have been changed by IoT.
